JavaScript: The language web pages use for interaction

Script: <script>

The script tag can be used to include programming instructions to the browser. The instructions can be referred to by linking to an external file (similar to a stylesheet) or by writing them directly in the tag. By far, the most common programming language used in script elements is JavaScript, which we’ll cover in a later chapter. Two examples of script tags are given below:

<script src=""></script>
<script>alert("Hello World!");</script>

Usually we include script tags at the end of a document for performance reasons which we’ll go into further in the JavaScript chapter.
